Cartoons

08/02/06 | by chris [mail] | Categories: HUMOUR, POLITICS

There's nothing the media likes better than to navel gaze, such as on the publication of the supposedly offensive cartoons of Mohummad. Frankly, I am rather over it.

Once again hypocrisy in religion rears its ugly head - Muslim world newspapers are full of examples of anti-semetic cartoons far more hateful than the ones first published in Denmark.

Muslim scriptures forbid any representation of human form, not just Mohummad, and also forbid eating pork or drinking alcohol. But who is anyone to tell me how to live my life if I don't believe their fairy stories?

In all the reaction to this the greatest insult to Islam has been the violence perpetrated by the tiny minority of so-called Muslims. They are insulting and abusing the vast majority of peace-loving practicioners of that faith. But will thier leaders stand up to condemn the violence? Perhaps they have - I wouldn't expect the Western media to report this lest it get in the way of some good ol' race baiting.
