SP2 Available for "Pirates"

Monday 10th May 2004 | by chris [mail] | Categories: IT

Service Pack 2 for Windows XP will be able to installed on "pirated" versions of the operating system which haven't had their serial numbers changed.
Previously "pirates" (arrrrrr!) had to use Bluelist or similar to generate a unique serial number for their system in able to be able to use Windows Update, or Service Pack 1. Or so I've heard.

Update 6/6/04: According to this BBC article "Microsoft has worked out the 20 most pirated product IDs and SP2 will not install and run on any copy of XP bearing one of those numbers."
